About Us

After owning and operating a machine shop—Ronin Machining—in Tulsa, Oklahoma, brothers Josiah, Jonathan, and Joseph Cleath identified a major bottleneck in metal part fabrication: long turnaround times for powder coated parts. Sending components out for finishing often meant waiting weeks, delaying production schedules and limiting responsiveness to customers.

But an even bigger inefficiency existed within the coating process itself—part preparation.

Masking critical features using traditional methods—tape, foil, and standard off-the-shelf plugs—was extremely time-consuming and inconsistent. Complex geometries required tedious manual application, and removal of masking materials after coating added yet another labor-intensive step. This process not only slowed production but also introduced variability and risk of damage to finished parts.

Determined to find a better solution, Josiah Cleath, with over a decade of experience in industrial manufacturing, began exploring ways to streamline the process. His focus turned to custom masking solutions, specifically engineered to fit each part perfectly.

This led to the development of custom silicone masking tools—including precision-fit plugs designed to seal complex cavities quickly and reliably. Unlike traditional masking methods, these tools can be installed and removed in a fraction of the time while delivering consistent, repeatable results.

Recognizing the broader industry need, the Cleath brothers founded Ronin Masking.

At Ronin Masking, we leverage our passion for additive manufacturing to design and produce rapid, high-performance masking solutions. We 3D print precision molds used to create durable silicone tools tailored to each customer’s part geometry.

Driven by a passion for process improvement and innovation, we are continuously pushing forward—adopting emerging silicone 3D printing technologies to further reduce lead times and expand what’s possible in custom masking.

Our mission is simple: eliminate bottlenecks in part preparation and give manufacturers back their time.
